Sales Pitch

What the scout should say during a sale:

  1. Who you are:

    • My name is <Jon> and I am a cub scout with Pack 359.

  2. What you are doing:

    • We are selling popcorn to raise money for our Pack

  3. Why you are selling:

    • The money will support camping and events like going to a Stormchasers game…

  4. Would you like to…:

    • Would you like to buy some popcorn from me? I have the popcorn here with me right now. Let me show you the order form…

  5. THANK YOU! (Even if they say No)

General Info

  • Dress in your Class A uniform

  • Avoid ‘no soliciting’ signs

  • Say thank you and smile, even for no sale

  • Bring pen and clean form

  • Know your product

  • Copy your order form for next year contacts

  • Make checks out to CUB SCOUT PACK 359

  • Please convert all cash to checks before settling up with the Kernel.

  • Try a different neighborhood, if you live near lots of scouts

  • If you take an order and do not have the product on hand, please still collect payment at that time (not delivery time)

Selling Online

  • The Scout communicates his Order Key via email, phone, and so on, to potential or existing customers. The Customer can go online and purchase popcorn with a Credit Card at https://www.trails-end.com/

  • The Product is shipped directly from Trail's End to the customer and the Scout and Pack receive credit for the sale.

Prizes

    • A note about prizes.

      • In the center of the order form there is a description of prizes that are offered for various sales levels.

      • We felt this was a better value—Your son would have only received a $40 Walmart gift card for $1000 in sales. With our plan your son receives $100.

      • All Scouts that sell at least ONE item will receive a Popcorn Sales Patch.

      • If your Scout sells $650 they will receive the cash reward AND a special prize.

      • If your Scout sells $1000 they will receive the above rewards AND be invited to the Popcorn Ball (usually a Creighton Men’s Basketball Game)

      • If your Scout sells $1700 they will receive the above rewards AND a special VIP Experience To Be Determined (last year it was a Memorial Stadium Tour experience)

Product

  • All sales should be recorded on the order form even if you have the product on-hand

  • Keep “big” boxes closed; we cannot return opened “big” boxes

  • Any products you cannot sell can be returned to the Kernel, however no chocolate products are able to be returned to council.

  • Some products NEED to be kept cool (chocolate) – consider selling from a cooler

  • You are responsible for any products you take; if your totals at return time do not match Pack records then you are

  • responsible for any monetary shortfall.

  • Keep track of your product and income.

  • Damaged products cannot be returned.

  • Do not switch products with another scout family. If you need product to fulfill an order you must contact the Kernel.

  • An order will be placed for more products later in October.
